Worst amount of ads, ever

I think John puts it best on this post here when he says “I think you need more ads seriously. The MASSIVE amount of ads you have isn’t enough and you should just get rid of content altogether.”

Without further ado, I give you Photoshoptips.net (click on thumbnail below for full screenshot):

haha, that truly is something to behold! i actually had trouble distinguishing where the ads ended and the content started!

I dont think swamping your site with ads is the best way to pay the bills, having a successful site with fewer ads would do the otrick… but im not sure that site will ever get to the point where they can do that with the amount of ads thrown in there!

Hi, I’m the guy who runs Photoshoptips.net and I saw the trackback from here :)

I’m always open to suggestions and I’m going to take this as constructive criticism.

Photoshoptips.net has the same amount of ads as … for example: http://design.weblogsinc.com/

The difference, I believe, is that I over-emphasized the advertisements. I’ll try to make them less gaudy

    Hey Garg,

I think the main difference between that site you have pointed out, and your site is that you can actually read the content they are trying to get accross.

For example it took me a long while to see you actually had a menu since you’ve deguised the top 4-5 google ad links into your menu… so I simply presumed it was full of links and ignored it.

Ah okay. I’ve been looking at my site since a while so I’ve kind of become blind to the ads so I didn’t realize that they were so annoying.

I’ll go back to my old design for now until I improve the other custom one.

nice to hear your taking it as contstructive criticism garg. most people would have gone off on one and just write alot of expletives.

ill have to agree with jay on the whole menu thing, i can honestly say i never noticed it. disguising your menu in all those ads is not a new trick, and, whether intentionally or not, it backfired here. alot of people disguise ads in thier content to trick people into clicking them as they blend into the menu, but here you have done the complete opposite and blended your menu into the ads!

anyways, good luck with the site in the future, ill check back soon!

I don’t find any of those ads obstrusive (if this is the word I’m wanting) nor actually even notice them.

It’s the sites that have those stupid talking ads and things that pop up all over your screen that suck, and those ads that come flying in to say “Congrats your our 10,000 visitor”

4 google ad units is allowed per page anyways so complain to Google :P

lol donna, have we been looking at the same site?!

Yep Stu I’m looking at both, there’s worse than that around.

    *lightbulb* is always on :P
