Though it is true that people see the left first rather than the right. By moving it around I'm trying to change your focus to it being a website, not purely a blog. When the content was on the left, there seemed to be more emphasis on it rather than the links. Perhaps it's just me, but when I usually visit a blog I frequent, I simply go to read the latest post made, or comments in a post.
