I Love Laughter, the new Funholio
Launched I Love Laughter a week or so ago silently in the background. It features a new layout, a few more pictures (I say a few, but not too many more), a new statistics page (mostly for my own enjoyment) and some new embed code boxes underneath each picture as it is generated.
There’s a few bugs no doubt and the colour scheme isn’t perfect – but it’s a quick update to the successful Funholio side project in a few hours during an active night off.

100,000 pictures generated on Funholio
Funholio has just reached 100,000 pictures generated out today which is a nice milestone for the site. I’m thinking of selling it soon so I can fully concentrate on work related projects, so if anyone has an offer – feel free to get in touch.

Looking for more funny pictures, and some helpers

For the new Funholio (aka ILoveLaughter.com) I am looking for some more funny pictures to add to the site, and I am looking for one or two people that may be interested in helping me weed out pictures that ‘don’t cut it when it comes to the funny’.
If anyone wants to send pictures to me, whether it’s big zip files or just several small pictures you can e-mail them to me at me -at- jhuskisson -dot- com.
(If you would prefer to upload the zip files to your own servers I don’t mind at all.)
For the helpers, I’m open to anyone whose interested – I’m only looking for 2-3 people. Basically the job is to go through an administration tool that I will build and click ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on whether the pictures are funny or not. It’s as simple as that :)
If your interested in helping, feel free to e-mail me at the above address or leave a comment on this post.

Funholio funny picture generator AJAX’d
I’ve just finished uploading the next logical step for Funholio – the AJAX’ing of the refresh function to get a new image. This means you’ll get new images much faster and you’ll get them without refreshing and re-downloading the layout everytime you generate a new image.
I’ve also fixed a bug that was stopping the ‘never see the same picture twice’ code from working which was bogging down the quality of the project, and I’ve implemented a system where by if you post an image on your website it will count every impression as a generation.
I am also aware that there are a small amount of pictures that aren’t even close to funny – and will be implementing a system in order for me to wade through each of the pictures to solve this. If you send me an e-mail at pics@funholio.com about a non-funny picture I’ll be sure to look into it :)
Update: Image removed due to the site shutting down.

Funholio funny picture generator launched
I have decided to put life back into an old project today ladies and gentlemen. I found my original directory of 4,500 funny pictures from the old funny picture generator and decided to put up a quickly put together first version so that people could browse them once again.
Around 8-900 where weeded out for various reasons from lack of funniness, to ridiculous size, to being too small but there’s still a massive 3,689 still online for you guys to click through.
The idea of Funholio is that everytime you refresh (or click on the main image) you get a new funny picture from the database. You can also post these pictures up on your blogs/websites and it’ll be perfectly fine as I’ve a ridiculous pile of bandwidth. I’ve also coded a small ‘you’ll never see this again’ feature where by you will never see the same picture twice during the same visiting session (which was actually a big annoying problem with the previous version).
I will be advancing the site considerably in the future but I thought it would be best to get the site live so people can browse the funny pictures now rather than a month or two down the line. I’d also like to thank Jamie Neary from Mint Media for creating a perfect design for the site in a very small amount of time.
Also if you’ve got funny pictures you’d like to contribute feel free to send any amount of them to pics@funholio.com.

EDIT:
11 Comments »some people are seeing errors as they are seeing the original site’s location, it’s since changed IP’s to a PHP5 account – so those users will have to wait to see the new location of the site (a restart may be required). The issue with the error should now be fixed – apparently it was pointing to both servers and has now been fixed by Mosso Web Hosting staff.
