Thoughtless error of the day

This appeared upon me entering my rolled.at e-mail address in on a site, despite me also entering my UK address and UK post code, and UK phone numbers.
Darn that Austrian domain name for uncovering my true foreign identity.

Oh Sky Sports, how I love your web team
I’m looking at my RSS reader today and up pops up “Premier League live on Sky – Sky Sports have confirmed their first live Premier League games for the 2007-08 season.”
Excited I go to read, only to see this:

And the list of fixtures announced after a small gap:

Copy goes in here, cope goes in here, copy goes in here. Copy goes in here, cope goes in here, copy goes in here.
They know just how to make a web developer laugh. So here’s to Sky Sports, may you continue your excellent online coverage of sports!
Update: More fixtures without names have appeared, whilst ‘copy goes in here’ appears another 10 more times too.

Future of web apps feed has last years Kevin Rose
The future of web apps podcast/RSS feed actually has last years presentation by Kevin Rose. It’s the 2006 presentation, not the 2007 presentation.
Maybe if they made it possible to actually report bugs like this… maybe I’d be able to report it. What crafty campaigns can we come up with in order to bring this bug to light for the Carson family?
p.s. There’s a reason why the people who had ten minutes only had ten minutes – they aren’t very good presenters, and seemingly lack passion when talking about their product. (They all sound like sales pitches)

Ricky Gervais steals Comic Relief
I watched most of the show last night (the last 2 hours or so is always non-original stuff so I didn’t watch that). It started off quite weak and very poor but gained traction with the ‘Tony Blair meets Catherine Tate’ sketch which was brilliant:
Not long after that Ricky Gervais came in to steal the night from every other sketch and piece of comedy on the show with this sketch:
Note: whilst a few people may not understand Ricky Gervais’s humour I’ll explain it simply – he’s making fun out of himself in order to make fun out of the other celebs that use Comic Relief for their own gain without doing anything.

Apple support engineer fired for writing the best poem ever written
It’s a small break from my usual posts, but I found this video absolutely brilliant. If I was fired for doing what this guy did, I’d upload it for over 500,000 people to view too.

Digg makes a tired story a great one – every single time
So I’m reading ‘Someone From Work Left Today And His Goodbye E-Mail Was Hilarious…‘ on Digg – which was an ‘ok’ story. But I’m not one of the people who read Digg for it’s ‘up to date news sources’, but one that reads Digg for it’s absolutely brilliant comments left by users.
It was Movieman that inspired me to write this post. Check this comment he posted to add to the story that was dugg:
the funny part was cut from the original email. It goes like this:
…But to those few souls with whom I’ve actually interacted, here are my personalized notes of farewell:
To Caulfield: I will always remember sharing lunch with you, despite having clearly labeled it with my name.
To Mairead: I will miss detecting your flatulence as much as you will clearly miss walking past my cubicle to deliver it.
To Linda: Best wishes on your ongoing campaign to popularize these “email forwards.” I sincerely hope you receive that weekend full of good luck, that hug from an old friend, and that baby for your dusty womb.
And finally, to Kat: you were right – I tested positive. We’ll talk later.
…
If you ever needed a reason why I only read Digg for the comments… this is just one of the hundred’s of perfect examples.

I told my girlfriend I wanted a lion…
… when I moved out and she said I could only have a rabbit.

If only I could teach it to RAWR at people who look at it in the wrong way – though I do hear they can good at mauling people.

If you look closely they are nearly indentical. If you can’t tell the difference I’ll give you a clue on how to tell them apart – it’s the ears.
Not only am I taking her up on her offer in a few years time – but I’m pointing you right towards the number 1 site on lionhead rabbits to learn more about my future furry friend.
Edit – Dan from tutorial-center.com sent me this link to teach my cat how to speak human. If he can’t tell the difference I must be onto something.

Best ‘Vista owned’ picture you’ll ever see

(Click here for the full 1.08mb picture)I laughed for a good 10 minutes when I saw this picture on Digg… and I have no idea why. With over 4300 diggs – I’d imagine a lot of other people did too. Looks like I grabbed the original before the serial key was censored out too.
