Funholio funny picture generator launched

I have decided to put life back into an old project today ladies and gentlemen. I found my original directory of 4,500 funny pictures from the old funny picture generator and decided to put up a quickly put together first version so that people could browse them once again.

Around 8-900 where weeded out for various reasons from lack of funniness, to ridiculous size, to being too small but there’s still a massive 3,689 still online for you guys to click through.

The idea of Funholio is that everytime you refresh (or click on the main image) you get a new funny picture from the database. You can also post these pictures up on your blogs/websites and it’ll be perfectly fine as I’ve a ridiculous pile of bandwidth. I’ve also coded a small ‘you’ll never see this again’ feature where by you will never see the same picture twice during the same visiting session (which was actually a big annoying problem with the previous version).

I will be advancing the site considerably in the future but I thought it would be best to get the site live so people can browse the funny pictures now rather than a month or two down the line. I’d also like to thank Jamie Neary from Mint Media for creating a perfect design for the site in a very small amount of time.

EDIT: some people are seeing errors as they are seeing the original site’s location, it’s since changed IP’s to a PHP5 account – so those users will have to wait to see the new location of the site (a restart may be required). The issue with the error should now be fixed – apparently it was pointing to both servers and has now been fixed by Mosso Web Hosting staff.

  2. It used to be under the title of ‘funny pic generator’ or ‘funny picture generator’ though I gave the domain away with my domain give away a couple of months back :) And was around 2 years ago… so you’d have to be a veteran to remember it

  5. Looks good, A suggestion would be to make it change picture using AJAX. i.e, press a button and the image changes.

    For a refresh button – click the image that is generated, i’ve put a javascript refresh function in when you click it.
